Important Notice Regarding Continuing Education Credits for CST Renewal

Dear Valued Certified Survey Technician,

The important upcoming change to the renewal process for your Certified Survey Technician (CST) certification. Starting with the July 2025 renewal, continuing education units (CEU) will be requested to maintain your certification. The July 2026 renewal will start the mandatory requirement of continuing education. The number of hours for each level will be:

• Level I = 2 CEUs annually
• Level II = 4 CEUs annually
• Level III = 6 CEUs annually
• Level IV = 8 CEUs annually

For the first year, July 2025 to June 2026, we ask you to voluntarily obtain the specified CEUs for your renewal in June of 2025. 

The 2026 renewal cycle will require the full amount of CEUs to be obtained for renewal.

We understand that continuous learning is crucial for maintaining technical competency and staying current in the ever-evolving field of surveying. By implementing this new requirement, we aim to:

• Elevate the overall quality and expertise of the CST community.
• Ensure CSTs remain informed about the latest industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements.
• Promote ongoing professional development and career growth.
• Provide incentives for technicians to attend professional society and industry events and interact with peers.

We are committed to making this transition smooth and informative for Certified Survey Technicians. You will be provided ongoing updates and resources to ensure you have ample time to prepare and meet the new CEU requirement.

CEUs may be audited by the CST Board on an annual basis. The number of auditees will be at the discretion of the CST Board.
